Our story

Paree Group was founded over five decades ago and has its roots deep in the Ostrobothnian soil. We have come far together as a group and pay homage to our history while planning our future.

Our story

The beginning

The company was officially established on the first of April in 1973. At that time, Paree Group was called Insinööritoimisto Muovi-Serres, Jyllilä, Säntti Ky. The company’s mission was to manufacture tools and other equipment. The word muovi – Finnish for plastic – was included in the company’s name with an eye on future opportunities. That same year, the company completed its first plastic mould – which was used to launch the company’s first own product: an extension ring for a floor drain.

From subcontracting to own products

In 1978, a suction bag prototype was completed. The aim of the product was to replace glass containers that were used in secretion suction during surgery with single-use suction bags. In the same year, the company started the product development of a floor drain model of its own, named Vieser, and extension rings. The product name, Vieser, was derived from the words viemäröintituotteita Serrekseltä – Finnish for sewerage products from Serres.

First export activities

In 1983, Muovi-Serres made its first major export deal, when the Norwegian bank Kreditkassen placed an order for Timantti piggy banks. Since the beginning of the 1980s, export operations have surged. Nowadays, exports account for over 80% of Paree Group’s turnover.

Shared values build commitment

In 1991, all Serres employees took part in a four-day course, that provided employees with self-development tools and led to the signing of a joint commitment. The commitment laid out the challenging objective, values and operational focuses that are still the cornerstones of Serres’ operations to this day.

Founder Erkki Jyllilä wins European award

In 1996, one of the founders of Serres, Erkki Jyllilä, was named the European Small Business Person of The Year. The world learned the meaning of the Finnish word hinku – meaning a strong urge. In the same year, Erkki and Annel Jyllilä were invited to the Independence Day gala hosted by President Martti Ahtisaari at the Presidential Palace.

Latest decade of expertise

In 2017, Innokas Medical became part of the Group. This has strengthened the group’s expertise in medical technology and healthcare digitalization.

In 2019, the company changed names from Serres Group to Paree Group to better reflect the broad company portfolio and to honour the Ostrobothnian roots.

In 2023, Paree Group celebrated its 50-year-anniversary together with all its subsidiaries. The Group’s renewed vision, mission and strategy act as a guide in staying relevant in the decades to come.
